The Van Hise PTO is looking for a Treasurer to serve on the board for the 2016-2017 school year. If you enjoy working with numbers and are comfortable with Excel and Quicken, the PTO could use your skills to support Van Hise teachers and students. Time commitment is about 8-16 hours a month. Please contact our current Treasurer Dana McCloskey at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more about the position!
Dear VHE Parents of 5th Grade Students: the 2016 5th Grade Graduation committee is forming now. The ceremony takes place on the last day of school and usually lasts about an hour. Committee members will help plan this casual yet important event in conjunction with Principal Peg Keeler and 5th grade teachers.
We are in need of general committee members. Responsibilities will be decided when the committee meets.
Mark Your Calendars! January 22, 2016 is Van Hise's Carnival! There will be games, food and FUN!!!!
Parents Please consider donating a half hour of your time to helping the kids play some amazing games! Details to be sent later on how to sign up.
Backyard Bites success relies on you!!! Come help chop veggies, fill snack cups and deliver snacks. We have separated volunteer opportunities by grade to give families a chance to hang out and prepare a healthy treat for their class together, and this month the fourth graders are up! Please use the sign up below to get involved.
Come get your hands dirty! You don't have to have a green thumb to help your child's class get some time in the outdoor classroom. Parent volunteers are still needed to pair with classroom teachers and assist facilitating taking kids outside for learning in the garden. No experience necessary - guidance and ideas for projects are offered.
Fall projects you could assist with include helping kids collect seeds to plant next year, planting garlic, harvesting, spreading mulch, and writing observations in a garden journal.
Cleaning out the garage? Our playground balls are in sad shape so if you have any gently used basketballs, soccer balls, footballs or jump ropes you may donate them to our playground equipment cart.
Just bring them to the gym this fall, but please make sure they are in good, bouncing condition!
