Music Notes January 2016

Madison Boy Choir Festival

January 30th is the annual boy choir festival sponsored by Madison Youth Choirs and the Madison School District! It is open to boys in grades 2-12, with 3 different choirs that overall have more than 500 boys. I direct the elementary group of boys and would love to have many VHE kids there. I sent home a note before break. The morning, which includes music, practice, a t-shirt, snack and the concert is only $5! Scholarships are available. On January 14th, all VHE students will see the Jr. version of The Music Man, performed by Hamilton 8th graders. We have been learning about the musical with K-3 (and will after break with 4-5) so it is more enjoyable and we don't miss as much. The whole musical is on youtube, if you would like to see some scenes as a family ahead of time. One idea that my 8th grade students have explored is how and when does real change happen in people. We have looked for evidence of change in Harold, Marian, Winthrop, the people in the town, etc... If you would like to see the musical, it is also the evenings of the 13th and 14th of January at 7pm. Have a great break!
