VHE Phys Ed

In Mr. Hampton's PE class, we are currently practicing rollerblading. To wrap up the school year after rollerblading, we will be doing a variety of activities, including getting outside for the straw walk, reviewing recess/playground games, and enjoying summer time games/activities.

A note from Mrs. Koval's student teacher:

Hello!
My Name is Hilary Carpenter and I will be a student teacher in Mrs. Koval's PE class for your child for the remainder of the school year. I am from UW - Madison and also grew up in the Madison Area. I grew up in Madison and went to high school at Oregon High School. Some things that I love are adventure, being in musicals, and swing dancing. I studied abroad in New Zealand my 3rd year at the UW which was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I have continued to travel around the country since then. Additional adventures include rock climbing, canoeing and kayaking, skydiving, and working at a camp in Upper Michigan during the summers. I love being outside!! I was in community and school musicals during middle and high school and have been in a couple other productions since while I was in New Zealand and this past fall in Madison. Swing dancing is something that I enjoy doing on a weekly basis and brings me great joy! Dancing is something that always puts me in a good mood no matter how rough my week has been.

My previous practicum experiences were at Kromrey Middle School in Middleton and Muir Elementary in Madison. I just finished up my first half of student teaching at Verona Area High School where I had a blast teaching classes from individual sports to weight training. I look forward to the units I will be teaching here at Van Hise.

This quarter I will start out by planning and teaching a unit for 1st and 2nd graders that covers ball skills such as dribbling, throwing, and kicking. I will also be co-teaching Mrs. Koval's 3-5th grade unit of scoops which will introduce students to lacrosse skills. The enthusiasm that elementary students bring to PE class is something that makes each day great and I look forward to harnessing that excitement to help your child develop a variety their skills: movement, teamwork, honesty, a good work ethic, communication, problem solving, and many others.

Each student in class brings a unique skill set and personality and I love interacting with every one of them! I hope that your child will enjoy having me as their teacher as much as I will enjoy having them in class.
