This year, the Terrace Town unit will be offered as an After School Class for 4th & 5th graders, rather than during the school day.
Terrace Town brings architecture, design and city planning curriculum to Dane County elementary classrooms. Students learn how cities are planned, what makes a quality city, and how citizens can participate in the improvement of their community.
We will design and construct a scale model city. Then in April, we'll take a field trip to the Monona Terrace during the school day to set up our city for public viewing. Teachers work in partnership with volunteer “mentors”- architects, planners, design professionals and parents- to facilitate the students work.
*This class is only offered every other year in conjunction with the event at the Monona Terrace.
